Baby Cooper. We are the proud new aunt, uncle, and cousins to this very special little person. He decided he did not want to wait until October to meet his family and he is a wee one (insert the Irish accent of our dear friends here), but he is hanging in there.
His mom and dad have discovered that having a baby in NICU is quite overwhelming and quite a roller coaster ride, but they are already sending out e-mail updates and have the lingo down. Though I am sure it is a lingo they would rather not ever have known, we are all so glad to hear that he is doing so well and in such good hands.
What a cutie! We can't wait to meet him. We send love hugs and kisses to mom, dad, new big brother and especially baby.

Oh Baby Cooper, we are hoping you make your NICU visit a short one. Congrats to the parents, he really is a cutie and a miracle.
Just an observation: In the NICU, babies are 'allowed' to sleep on their tummy? I had no idea!
I don't know if you know, Katie, but I am a NICU nurse so you asked the right person. We are allowed to put them on their tummies in NICU or even the regular nursery if there are breathing problems, but only while on a monitor and before they go home we put them on their backs so that hopefully they won't only sleep on their tummies and give moms and dads a rough night on the first night home. He is also in a snuggly which helps position them just like they would be in untero to keep them comfy. Another mean trick, we take those away before they go home too and recommend the baby not sleep with anything the least bit snuggly.
Another little one in the family! How much fun. I am so glad they have you and your expertise and wish nothing but the best for the new family!
