February! Oh. My. Goodness...January was long. And Cold. And long.
Today feels almost like spring. It seems just a little bit brighter a little bit earlier. Even with a random day off in the middle of the week (the school's heat wasn't funcitoning yesterday so we got a call at 9:30 on Tuesday night letting us know there would be no school on Wednesday), this week has gone by so much more quickly than the last few. We've been busy so it isn't lack of things to do. We have been extraordinarily blessed with good health this winter. Sarah's nose continues to run and her Darth Vader breathing apparently keeps Hannah up at night. (Although lately upon waking, Hannah sneaks into her big brother's bed rather than ours so we can't really complain--Nathan doesn't seem to notice, so we're good).
We continue to wait on a possible change in zip code. Sometimes we live like we are on hold and other times we go ahead and make plans. Like the midweek Disney Paris trip we just planned with friends in March and the driving tour of Italy we've booked and paid for in April and DMB tickets in Antwerp in March. We put preschool plans on hold for Sarah. She never really fully understood that she was supposed to start after the winter break anyway. I did and I've gotten over the disappointment of losing all of those free mornings. Wasn't meant to be.
The sun is actually shining as I type this. We're having Hannah's first sleepover due to a parental excursion to Switzerland tonight.* A sweet little girl. I am sure it will go well. Last weekend was full of birthday parties (including one parking lot rescue as one parent dropped off at a party location with a steep parking lot and couldn't get out--it was snowing again) and a matinee of a high school musical: West Side Story. We took all three kids and it was a little intense at times for them and long, but they did well considering they are 7, 5 and 3. Kids who sing, dance and act blow my mind. Most adults I know couldn't and wouldn't get on a stage and put themselves out there like that. Amazing.
This weekend? More birthday parties. A babysitter Saturday night while the parents attend our first school gala. Actually, our first gala. A relaxing night out sounds really nice--assuming it will be relaxing. We have one more week of school before winter break. A week of nothing much planned with Daddy in the US.
So not much else going on. Just glad it is February and glad the sun is shining for the moment. I also see a moon over on the couch. Why does our youngest child insist on going commando? Off to remedy that...
PS She was already commando in these pics...I just hadn't noticed yet.
*Her parents are going, not us...just in case that wasn't clear. We're the sleepover hosts.
