Goin' To The Zoo, Zoo, Zoo
We love a good zoo. Beautiful weather helps. One adult per child helps.
Elephants are always the favorites--although these did not top Baby Lucas in Toledo. There are no elephants at the Detroit zoo for some reason--too expensive I think.
We also love the polar bears. Of the 3 polar bear exhibits we've seen, Detroit has the best one hands down. This one and the Toledo one had a pretty small home. Kinda sad.
He seemed to be doing okay--with a wall to scratch himself on...
And a pool for a dip...odds are he's never seen how much bigger the pool is in Detroit.
The best part of the Buffalo Zoo? The Tropical Rain Forest--complete with waterfalls that mist and splash making even the humid, tropical air pretty pleasant.
Weirdest. Animal. Ever. Giant Tropical Hamster? Creepy and straight out of The Princess Bride.
It looks like a small hippo in this photo. Yikes.
We had almost convinced ourselves that these little crocodile guys were robots. They were so still at times.
Giant flying cockroaches are worthy of a zoo exhibit? Just visit Austin or San Marcos and see these in the wild...this looks just like the front of my dorm freshman year. Hannah was the only one brave enough to pose here.
This guy was not really in the mood for entertaining.
This guy was very interactive--the kids loved him.
We finished up with the lions, tigers and bears...
And decorating Aunt Daphne. Back to Auntie Kathy's house for a super fabulous dinner party.
To Be Continued...
