Long Overdue

Days keep getting away from me and "To Do" lists keep growing longer even though I have to be accomplishing something, right? Amazing that we are already ordering school supplies for next fall. After placing Nathan's order it suddenly hit me, Grade 1 is REAL school. There is no stopping him now. For some reason I had been in some delusional world where he stays 5 and in kindergarten forever. How is it almost over? He'll be going on to elementary school where he'll wear a uniform for both school and PE. He was introduced to a Tiger Cub Scout meeting not long ago... It seems as if the list of activities is growing right before my eyes. We held off as long as possible with him, but won't do the same with the girls. Ballet is calling Hannah's name in the fall and she really loves gymnastics... Am I seriously considering a Little Gym class for Sarah? She hasn't asked for it. Exhibit A that peer pressure lasts long after it is first introduced.

The whir of our first year has passed and we are beginning to process things this year that we must have missed the first time around. We are sad to see many friends go back home. We are used to new beginnings and starting over, but we are used to being the leavers, not the ones left behind. Because the kids don't talk about moving as much as the parents do, the kids are doing pretty well considering some of their very good friends will not be returning back to school in the fall. It is going to be hard to say goodbye to some great families, but we know very well it is quite possible to stay in touch with a little effort, so we take comfort.

It is nice to have Daddy home again. We were more than a little surprised, okay, completely shocked, when the doorbell rang the other evening and Daddy's taxi driver presented the second digital camera we "lost" in one year. We had long since said goodbye to the camera and, more importantly, the pictures from his trip to Hong Kong. Just a reminder that when you think you have something all figured out, you can always be surprised. Long overdue, some pictures from Daddy's trip to Hong Kong...
