Our poor deprived-of-American-football son is finally getting some exposure. This year thanks to his very-into-football friend and our working Slingbox he is starting to really understand and appreciate this great sport.
Last weekend the game was actually on at a time when we could almost watch it live. Due to Daddy's late arrival from South America and two exhausted girls, we did not watch it live, but just about an hour delayed. I did watch a little of the Colorado game with him while Daddy was gone, but during the day I can never just sit and watch football. The little he saw he remembered well. He asked how "those Buffalos" scored on "us" so fast.
Clearly, last Saturday's game, not pretty. We only let him stay up until half-time (tried to keep Daddy's profanity to a minimum up to that point) and the thing that he talked most about was the head butt by one of our guys. Nice.
It really isn't easy to learn about any sport while watching on the Slingbox. It isn't the clearest, but considering the alternative, we'll take what we can get.
Yesterday Nathan drew this picture for his Dad. For the little bit of blurry football he actually observed (and the fact that most of the first half our defense was on the field twice as much as our offense), I'd have to say that his drawing is pretty good. (Yes, I realize that is mostly because I am his mother). It is hard to read, but he got "Mecoy's" name a little bit wrong, but number right. The other one says Shipley, but he is number 8, not 24. Also interesting that the two of them are smiling and possibly completing a pass. To me that indicates he was not drawing from memory of Saturday's game--unless it was 3rd and 20-something and this pass was complete, but Shipley was tackled right there at the line of scrimmage. UGH, GREG DAVIS, YOU STINK!!!!!! (That is the G rated version of what was being yelled at our TV on Saturday night). ;0)
