Those first two days of Epic Road Trip 2012 were brutal. We stopped in Alabama, apparently. I really do not remember this. After a certain amount of car riding, you go numb.
Day two destination: Bordelon house. A pool in the backyard, friends for the kids and for us. Good times.
We got fancy. Bordelons took the kids to a movie. Then we made the LONG drive from Baton Rouge to NOLA.
Our long time friend, Amanda, got married. Beautiful wedding. And fun. We met her family and they met us---the "Joey and Nicci" they'd heard so much about. The ones who check in on Jack the Cat during all of Amanda's travel. Jack the Cat, friend of Joe and the kids. Not a friend of mine. I don't know cats and he was a rude introduction.
Mema and Yehyeh made the long trek to Baton Rouge to see us.
And Mike the Tiger at LSU.
And on to Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans for some "man-catchin' beignets".
We didn't have much time, but there was time for hugs.
There was time for shopping.
Then we went east and they went west.
We ended July in pursuit of "Destin"-ation #3 of Epic Road Trip 2012. We arrived in the dark after a day that was a complete wash-out in Destin, Florida anyway. We were tired and we were trying to figure out how it was possible to feel covered in sand without stepping foot on a beach, but we were there. Bring on August.
